Uma das novidades neste ano, é a Rota da Cortiça, considerada uma mais-valia para o turismo de interior e que pretende impulsionar as actividades locais, valorizando práticas sustentáveis ligadas à natureza.
Mais do que um percurso, a Rota da Cortiça pretende ser uma história, uma viagem que convida à descoberta dos mistérios da relação ancestral entre o Homem e o Sobreiro. A Rota da Cortiça é composta por um itinerário que se desenvolve em seis polos temáticos: Património, Natureza, Vida Rural, Tradição, Inovação e Conhecimento, que dão a conhecer toda a fileira da cortiça, dos sobreirais às fábricas.
A ser desenvolvido desde 2006, este projecto, resulta de uma candidatura ao PROAlgarve em conjunto com entidades da região: a Associação IN LOCO, a autarquia de São Brás de Alportel, a Associação de Industriais e Exportadores de Cortiça (AIEC-Sul), a Associação de Agricultores de São Brás de Alportel, a Associação de Produtores Florestais da Serra do Caldeirão, a Santa Casa da Misericórdia de S. Brás de Alportel e a Região de Turismo do Algarve (RTA). Todas compõem a Associação Rota da Cortiça.
